ChildsPlay Active is ahead of the game in providing play for all

Notts Sport developed the ChildsPlay Active initiative following research into the importance of keeping fit through play to enable UK schools, architects, and play providers to create the ultimate playground without overstretching their budgets.

Play is critical to children's development; by designing ChildsPlay Active children of all ages and abilities have the freedom to express themselves and learn how to build confidence and social skills; a daily run around the playground can improve concentration, behaviour, and mental well-being as well as the obvious physical benefits.

ChildsPlay Active is the ideal solution for sports, play, and education, whether creating a new area from scratch or refurbishing an existing one. Using up to 15 colours, traditional playgrounds and ball games can be designed that include lines and markings. The surface is also suitable for paths, multi-use games areas, Daily Mile, and erosion control. It can also incorporate shapes, patterns, letters, and numbers to stimulate learning through imaginative free play and structured activities.

The Notts Sport team took their new year resolution very seriously for 2023. A number of the group agreed to get ChildsPlay Active; James Jeyes ChildsPlay Manager also upped his activity, saying, "Taking part in ChildsPlay Active during January was quite enjoyable. Granted, I wouldn't say that I pushed myself to extremes, but I decided to make small changes so not to lose my enthusiasm.

Each morning I walked the kids to school instead of driving; this got my exercise in first thing, cleared my mind, and allowed me to plan for the day ahead on my walk back.

In addition to the school runs, I took regular walks during lunch to get away from the screen for 30 mins, returning refreshed and ready to attack an afternoon of work.

The ChildsPlay Active campaign has given me the kickstart that I required."

Shaun Patrick got on board with ChildsPlay Active to train for his forthcoming Hadrian's Wall Walk. "I love being part of the ChildsPlay Active Campaign. At the beginning of January, I decided to sign up to trek across Hadrian's Wall in April. As this involves building up for a 16-mile-a-day walk for six straight days, The ChildsPlay Active Campaign is the ideal trigger to make me train properly for it!"
